About FromNine

AI, software and cloud engineering by 2,400+ colleagues.

FromNine is an engineering company for AI, enterprise software and cloud. We design, build and operate AI systems for the public service and for companies in Ireland and the rest of Europe. AI leads the work, and we deliver it the way important systems deserve: tested, documented, and with clear responsibility for how they run.

An engineering company for the public service and businesses in Ireland, with teams in Belgium and the Netherlands.

The name

Where the name FromNine comes from

A company name should say what the company is there to do. Ours does that in two ways.

The name holds the two things that matter most to us: the working day our systems must support, and the wider set of systems they must fit into.

09:00

From nine in the morning

At nine the working day properly begins. Caseworkers open their queues, finance teams kick off their runs, members of the public sign in with MyGovID to make an application, and engineers check what happened during the night.

That is when a system stops being a project and becomes something people rely on, and it is the moment we design for. Not a polished demo late on a Friday, but nine on Monday morning, with real users, real data and real consequences.

3 × 3

Nine nodes, a single route

Our logo is a grid of nine nodes linked by one unbroken route. Each node is a part that every organisation has to join up: data, models, applications, platforms, integrations, cloud, security, people and operations.

The route is the engineering that links them, one deliberate turn after another, and it finishes at a single highlighted node: a working system in production. Trace the line and you will see it forms a nine.

FromNine: from the first hour of the working day, and from nine separate parts to a single system that holds up when it matters.

Who we are

AI first, with engineering discipline underneath

We design, build and operate AI systems, enterprise software and cloud platforms for Government departments, State agencies, local authorities and companies in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe. Drawing on 2,400+ colleagues, we can put together teams that cover AI, software, cloud, data and platforms, and keep the same people in place for as long as a programme runs.

AI first is not the same as AI everywhere. It means each engagement starts with one question: where would AI make a real difference to how your organisation works? Then we engineer it to the standard of the systems around it, so it is tested, observable, governed and properly handed over.

That discipline comes from the public sector. In 600+ government projects for public bodies across the EU, accessibility, security and accountability were firm requirements, not wishes. Private-sector clients get the same standard from us.

How we operate

The four principles we work by

  1. Made to run

We build AI for daily use in production, not for a demo. Dependable software, access to data, security, monitoring and an operating plan are part of the job, never optional extras.

  2. Linked to your core systems

AI can only be as useful as the systems it reaches. We work with the CRM, ERP, data platforms and applications you have and connect to them properly, rather than replacing things that work.

  3. Responsible from the design stage

Early on, we settle where people approve, where AI is allowed to act and how every decision can be traced. GDPR, the EU AI Act and Ireland’s 2026 Act shape the design, and we are honest about what AI cannot do.

  4. Size with continuity

You get the capacity of a large firm and the steadiness of a team that knows how to deliver. We try to keep the people who designed your system on it through the build and the handover.

Credentials

Certification and partnerships

Two things back up the name: a certified system for managing information security, and formal partnerships with the platforms our clients rely on.

Information security

ISO/IEC 27001

We hold ISO/IEC 27001 certification for our information security management system; it is the international standard in this field. You can request the certificate and its scope during your due diligence.

Platform partnerships

Our SAP, Salesforce and Odoo teams work inside the partner programme of each vendor. Each vendor defines its own partner status labels.

Salesforce, SAP and Odoo are trademarks of their respective owners.

Where we are

The same way of working in every office

We do not have an office in Ireland. Our teams work from Antwerp, Ghent and Amsterdam, one hour ahead of Irish time, and deliver for clients in Ireland and across the EU.

In Ghent, new ideas have to prove themselves

Ghent is home to FromNine’s innovation and development hub. Here we try out new AI and engineering methods on realistic problems before they go anywhere near client work, and development teams build the shared components that delivery teams all over the company depend on.

The innovation is practical on purpose. An idea only makes the cut once it passes the same tests, reviews and security requirements as everything else we release.

  • ExploreNew methods in AI, agents and platform engineering are tried out on realistic cases.
  • ProveTest methods, reference architectures and reusable components are built, checked and documented.
  • ShareWhatever works becomes common practice for delivery teams in all our offices. Whatever doesn’t is recorded as well.

Trust and compliance

Security, privacy and human oversight from the start

The public service and regulated companies hand us sensitive data and systems that support real decisions. These are the commitments we hold ourselves to.

  • Information security

    Certified

We are certified to ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management. Least-privilege access, secure coding practice and security testing are built into how we deliver every project, not left as a check at the end.

    Certified to ISO/IEC 27001

  • Personal data and GDPR

    How we work

We handle personal data under GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and agree purposes, access limits and retention periods before building starts. When we process personal data for you, a data processing agreement covers it.

  • AI governance

    How we work

The EU AI Act and Ireland’s Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Act 2026 shape our designs, from risk category to documentation and human oversight. Agents have limited permissions, approval points and complete logs.

We help you work out which obligations could apply to your use case, and we provide the technical evidence your legal advisers need.

  • Accessibility

    How we work

Accessibility is a requirement from the first sketch, not a final test. Interfaces are designed and tested to WCAG 2.2 level AA, with automated checks and manual testing using assistive technology. That goes beyond the WCAG 2.1 AA level behind EN 301 549, which public bodies meet under S.I. No. 358 of 2020.

  • Data hosted in the EU

    Per engagement

Data stays hosted in the EU by design. We agree hosting locations and access limits with you before building, including sovereign options when your requirements call for them, and choose hosting and AI services to match, without locking you in to a single vendor.

This section explains how we work. It does not state that your organisation complies with anything: your obligations depend on your organisation and your use case.

Careers

Build the systems organisations depend on

Work alongside 2,400+ colleagues on AI, software and cloud for the public service and for companies throughout Europe, in a company big enough for serious work and focused enough to keep learning.

Ireland

Working to Irish and EU rules

Ireland follows the EU baseline, with its own institutions on top. GDPR is supervised by the Data Protection Commission under the Data Protection Act 2018. The AI Act is backed by the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Act 2026 and the AI Office of Ireland. NIS2 is still on its way into Irish law through the National Cyber Security Bill, with the National Cyber Security Centre planned as lead authority, while S.I. No. 358 of 2020 sets the accessibility rules for public-sector websites and apps.

On top of that come the Irish details: Revenue’s planned VAT modernisation for e-invoicing, MyGovID for public services and the Official Languages Act for public bodies. We plan for all of them from the first stage of a project.

Tell us what you are working on

In the first conversation we talk about your challenge, the systems you run today and what a sensible next step could be. The right people will come back to you.
